My middle school daughter loved this book! Excellent character development. Exciting plot. She also enjoyed reading volume one in the series.
After thoroughly enjoying TJ and the Cunning Cantrip Competition, I was excited to begin the second installment, TJ and the Forbidden Tunnels. To my pleasure, it was another great read filled with fantasy, adventure, humor, and wit. I enjoy the author's use of youthful zest, though this does not pigeon-hole the book to one audience. The young and the grown could certainly enjoy this captivating read. Hoping for further installments.
I couldn't wait to read another book by Kim Parks, especially when I saw that it was a sequel to her book T.J. and the Cunning Cantrip Competition. Although either book could be a satisfying stand alone, I hope this becomes a series. Again, I was impressed by Kim Park's cleverly written, humorous, and quite entertaining style. I was again taken on a roller coaster ride as T. J. Golden and her friends return to the magical town of Luminet where they encounter numerous obstacles and dangers. In this book I believe that TJ finds that true friends overcome all types of difficult situations. Although this book would probably appeal most to teens and young adults, I believe that readers of all ages who enjoy magical adventures of young wizards and witches would find this book most entertaining and difficult to put down. This author's enriching and colorful vocabulary makes this book an excellent choice for "Read Aloud" as well. I can't wait to read this book to my students and recommend it to others!
The storm shifter is a pretty cool type of talent for wizards and witches. Geared toward the young teen group of reader. There is another author who had the ice tunnels all under her wizards realm in the "Septimus Heap" series, this reminded me of that same idea but the tunnels in this book were forbidden. Ghosts and magic, kind of cheezy but cute.
