Frankie hates Joe as soon as she meets him.
It doesn’t matter that he is tall, dark, and handsome.
Or how good he smells.
Or how strong his arms are
Or that he has tattoos she wants to lick
He wants to be a celebrity chef and live in the spotlight.
She wants to hide in the shadows
Where it’s safe with her fellow misfits.
It could never work with him… right?

Mirepoix A Recipe Of Love Book 1 edition by Paige Conners Literature Fiction eBooks

Mirepoix at first glance is a fun and sexy romcom about a quirky heroine with social anxiety disorders and an all-alpha male chef eyeing the big time. Once I started reading it, though, the premise of this book was clear: everything begins with something simple.

Frankie is a tatted, pierced, pint-sized pixie of a girl who suffers from anxiety issues often culminating in panic attacks. Her behavior because of this disorder can be seen to those that don't know her as peculiar and because of this she is often overwhelmed by the feeling that she is being judged and found lacking.

Tall and tatted celebrity chef wanna-be Joe is shocked when he loses a pasta cooking contest to an unknown home cook and demands a meeting so he can confront her and get answers. Frankie turns the tables on him and schools him with her "keep it simple stupid" lesson, and he is rocked to his core by the girl, by her skills and by his shockingly fierce feelings.

Joe sees through all of Frankie's issues and loves her regardless of them. Joe just got her, and the level of care he treated Frankie with was beautiful and heart-warming. It was something that he happily gave her, but in reality, it was also something he needed - and never had before - in a relationship. Outwardly, Joe's big name persona didn't mesh with Frankie's need to stay in the background, but these two made their differences work, and they did so spectacularly well. They sizzled in the kitchen and out of it.

I always take something away from every book I read, and this book was a shining example of how love truly is patient and kind. How love can bloom and flourish despite obstacles and differences, and how that kind of hard fought, hard won love is sometimes the most beautiful kind of love.

Paige Conners did a fantastic job with her debut novel. It was a very well developed story, with a fast-paced and interesting plot and a solid cast of characters whose stories I hope to read in the future.

I really liked it! An enjoyable read fo'sho. Congrats Paige on your debut novel!! Looking forward to more of your stories!!
Loved it. I didn't want this book to end as I loved spending time with these amazing characters. Highly recommend. Can't wait to see what Paige Conners writes next.
Paige Conners has caused me to want more from the world she created. The characters are likable and engaging. The deep bonds of friendship are explored. The story is charming and catches your attention. This book is worth your time and money. I am looking forward to book 2.
I loved the characters, especially the heroine! The off beat quirky nature of Frankie is a huge plus for this book. The cohesion in the interaction between all of the characters made it flow, and I literally couldn't stop reading. The ending was a stunner and it works for the book. This optimal re-read material! Go ahead and one-click it's worth it.
Mirepoix is a brilliant mix of laugh, love, anxiety and a twist. I loved the relationship that was slowly built between Joe and Frankie. The relationship between Lindsey and Frankie was amazing and reminded me of my best friend. so much so I stole what they call each other and now call my best friend that. The other part that I loved was that family sometimes isn't the blood that you share but about the love that is built between people.

Also, the level of knowledge and research the author did on what anxiety really is was amazing and spot on. I suffer from PTSD and Social anxiety which makes it difficult to read about it in books when the authors are way off on what actually happens.

This was my first Paige Conners book ever and I will be adding this author to my auto one click. Thanks for the amazing read!
I have to say this was a wonderful surprise. I love books that have people that cook so that is what drew me to this read. I can say I am surprised this is a first book.

This was the story of a girl named Frankie who wins a pasta contest. She meets the hero named Joe,who is trying to be a big name chef, when he comes to her house to find out how she beat him. He is actually expecting a big Italian guy but is surprised when the 5'3 Frankie is the one who beat him. They meet on very rocky terms but as they get to know each other they acknowledge the attraction and their bad meeting is soon forgotten as the get to know each other and a romantic relationship begins.

Now Frankie is quirky and someone who suffers from anxiety when it comes to social situations. This means she thinks people judge her harshly or are making fun of her and that can send her into a downward spiral even though she knows it is not the way to think she can't help it due to her illness. She also has a sad background but deals very well for the most part with great friends. Joe is a guy who is trying to become more successful and is so focused on it that he has let other things in his life fall by the wayside. So while Joe wants the spotlight, Frankie is someone content with living in the background.

It was really nice to see two characters that have issues but that respect each other and try to work things out by talking everything through because it helps keep Frankie's illness from getting the best of her but it also lets both of them get what they need from their relationship. Joe does have some issues with his business manager named Heather. She is trying to garner the fame he wants but she wants to run his whole life not just the business side of things.

I have to say that this booked worked because there was balance. It was funny and their was banter but it wasn't overdone. There was some drama but again it wasn't OTT. I liked that they handled their relationship maturely and that the couple was the focus. I liked that the side characters that were in it added to the story and even peaked your interest in their story but that is all it did. They didn't dig into other characters stories so you want to find out more about them in hopefully their own book. It was low angst and had some steam and loved how bossy hero was in the bedroom. It was character driven and told in mostly the heroines pov but you also get several chapters in the hero's pov as well. It had its spots that bothered me but what book doesn't and the bff was one I wasn't a big fan because she was so involved but still kept to a minimum in the story so that helped. I have realized even books we love have moments we are like ugh but not enough not to still love it. So I highly recommend this one.

Safe from OW/OM drama, no manho hero, and a heroine that is sweet but strong.
